Rotary Bike Trek
The 17th Annual Best of Friends International Bike Trek sponsored by the Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club was held on June 5th. Riders started out from Kinsmen Park and followed the scenic Niagara River along the Parkway Recreational Trail to Niagara Falls and back, a distance of 50km (30 miles). A more leisurely 20km (12 mile) route was also available for family enjoyment. The major highlight of the bike trek was the participation of 50 Rotary international high school exchange students, half of who were from foreign countries and placed at various schools in the region. The other half were local area students who will be leaving this summer to study overseas for a year.
