Motorcycle Ride for Dad
The Niagara Chapter of the Motorcycle Ride for Dad (MRFD) launched their ride on May 30th from Queenston Heights Park. The Ride for Dad fundraiser brought out over 180 motorcycle enthusiasts, community members and various police services in the fight to eradicate Prostate Cancer, which inflicts one out of every six men. Marcel Dionne, an NHL Hall of Famer, was the ride’s 1st captain and started the motorcycle cavalcade. The 182 km ride route traveled around the outskirts of the Niagara Region with 5 poker stops along the way before returning to the park for food, refreshments and awards. This event is to be hosted annually by the NRP, NPP and OPP, chaired by Damian Parrent (NRP retired) and co-chaired by Joe Maggiolo (NRP). The net proceeds of the event will go to the new Walker Family Cancer Centre, opening in early 2013. To donate to the cause visit their web site at www.motorcycleridefordad.org
