Niagara Highland Dance Open Championship
On April 6, Saint Michael High School hosted the Niagara Highland Dance Open Championship competition. There were close to 320 registered dancers from as far away as Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Georgia and California. This was a major competition that is sanctioned by the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing, with limited Championships allowed in Canada each year. Beginners, some as young as four, intermediates and pre-premier dance, all participated in the morning, while the Championship was held in the afternoon. Many World Champions were present due to the prestige of this competition.
